Defining the best
Vista Apex came to us with a fundamental question: "What's necessary to make the best, most agile dental curing light in the market"? This question was posed in the context of how composite materials had advanced and the challenge of making them penetrate deeper into the cavity, shrink less, be harder and have greater wear resistance.

The chemistry of composites
Our client already knew that one of the key requirements was to use red light to warm the composite before curing. But this needed much further development. Another factor was to determine the ultimate configuration of wavelengths in the lights to ensure peak performance. That required significant and sustained research as we refined each prototype towards the finished product.

The 'quad' approach
During the development phase, we found that a combination of different wavelength LEDs worked best to achieve the ultimate curing performance.
So Pinkwave was fitted with red and near infrared (NIR) lights to soften the composite and cause it to flow better into tiny crevasses for enhanced polylight to enable strong illumination within the oral cavity, in addition to ultraviolet light for UV activated composites. Vista Apex's name for all this is 'QuadWave Technology'.
Kii.am's expertise in industrial and mechanical design was applied to dissipate the heat of the seven high-power LEDs in the Pinkwave head and to contain all the complex electronics within the sleek aesthetic body.

Ticking all the boxes
Pinkwave is a top-of-the-line dental curing light that's regarded today as one of the best curing lights on the market. It incorporated a sophisticated lighting array to assure the most reliable results for any kind of composite. Its beam has the largest curing area of 113mm in diameter, far greater than competing curing lights. Its curing power output ranges from 1515 mW/cm² to 1720 mW/cm². The unit also has a slim and elegant body that's very comfortable to hold.

Global approval
Since launching in 2019, Pinkwave has achieved thousands in global sales. Cellerant is one of the top content producers in the dental media and each year they run a 'Best of Class Technology' contest. In 2020 they awarded that honor Pinkwave - reflecting the opinions of dentists everywhere.
Among them are Dr Bryan Laskin: “It disrupts technology that's been stagnant for over a decade" and Dr Michael Miyaski: "Finally there's a new product to cure our composites. By adding Near Infra-Red energy it gives us better depth of cure, hardness and less shrinkage."
